Our History

Four decades of growth, innovation and unwavering care for the people of Ontario.

Our Journey

A Timeline of Compassionate Care

Every milestone reflects our commitment to the health and well-being of our community.

Humble Beginnings

Flora Health Pavilion opens as a 20-bed community clinic on Maple Ridge Boulevard, founded by five physicians dedicated to accessible, human-centred care.

First Major Expansion

We add a dedicated emergency department and maternity ward, welcoming our first babies and offering 24/7 urgent care to the neighbourhood.

Surgical Centre Opens

A modern surgical wing with four operating theatres launches, bringing advanced general and orthopedic surgery to the community.

Cardiac & Neuro Institutes

Our specialized Cardiology and Neurology institutes open, establishing Flora as a regional referral centre for complex care.

Advanced Imaging Arrives

Installation of a 3T MRI and 128-slice CT scanner makes Flora one of the best-equipped diagnostic hospitals in Ontario.

Robotic Surgery Program

We introduce robotic-assisted surgery, offering patients minimally-invasive procedures with faster recovery times.

Exemplary Accreditation

Flora Health Pavilion earns Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada — the highest recognition for quality and safety.

Serving 500,000+ Patients

Today, with 180+ specialists and 12 departments, we proudly continue our founders' mission — caring for Canadians, one family at a time.

Rooted in Community

Built by the People, For the People

Flora Health Pavilion has always been more than a hospital — it is a partner in the life of our community. Generations of families have trusted us with their most precious moments, from first breaths to final farewells.

Our growth has been powered by the generosity of local donors, the dedication of thousands of staff and volunteers, and the trust of the patients we serve. As we look to the future, that partnership remains our greatest strength.
